Meta MacLaren-Young is an artist from Atlanta, GA. She has studied (and continues to study) raqs sharqi, fusion, and folkloric dance, as well as pursued cross-training in ballet, jazz, West African, flamenco, modern, and contemporary. She graduated from Bryn Mawr College with a BFA in Fine Arts and Dance, and went on to graduate studies in performance and performance theory at Headlong Performance Institute while immersed in the Fringe Arts scene of Philadelphia, including intensive training in improvisational forms, dramaturgy, choreography, French clown, Commedia del’Arte, and the Lecoq methodology of physical theatre. She has additional studies in technical art specializing in illustration and 3D asset creation and animation pipelines from Savannah College of Art and Design. She works by day as an Art Director in the gaming industry, by night as a professional dancer. She is currently training in fire performance, and hopes to be able to incorporate fire into her public performances soon.
