“Dupla Cambre” is an acrobatic duo based in Santiago, Chile, composed by Osvaldo Galecio and Ozziel Sánchez.
They both started their journey in the circus arts in 2013, when they met in the context of beginner level workshops. Then, in 2014 they both decide to leave their formal studies (bio-chemistry and nursing respectively) to pursue a lifestyle of complete dedication to arts and movement.
From then on, they have trained various disciplines (such as aerial silks, static trapeze, floor acrobatics, juggling, ballet, modern dance and contemporary dance) in order to develop their aesthetic inspired in: classical ballet, rhythmic gymnastics, classical music and Slavic culture (Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian folk dance and music); always keeping a strong connection between musical structure and movement.
In parallel, they have been teaching circus workshops in schools, trying to extend the love for both circus and classical music and dance through the younger generations.
About the piece:
Being their first big project together, this year’s theme for Bloom was a perfect match.
Trees, dirt and leaves.
The playfulness and curiosity of a child.
Regaining connection with the environment around us and with ourselves through it.
To travel back to our most pure and innocent memories, while also carrying with us the experience coming from hard work, decisions and adulthood.
This was their way to take a breath from routine and go back to their roots: their geographical, physical and emotional origins.
An homage to nature for all the good times we get from it.
